Entry rules decide whether a trip can happen at all, and they change, so check them for every trip rather than relying on what applied last time. The rules depend mainly on the passport you travel on and on the purpose and length of your stay.
Before travelling, check whether you need a visa or an electronic travel authorisation, how long your passport must stay valid after you arrive, how many blank pages it needs, and the rules for any transit stop on the way. Confirm with the destination's official government website or embassy before you go, because third-party summaries can fall out of date, and an airline can refuse boarding if your documents are not in order.
IATA Travel Centre's entry requirements set out passport, visa, health and customs rules by country, and Passport Index shows where your passport gives visa-free access. In Europe's Schengen Area, the official Schengen visa calculator counts the days you have left under the 90/180-day short-stay rule, which matters on long or repeated trips.
